At Legend Park Pre-School, children between 3 and 5 years of age are best able to learn through a mix of informal and planned activities and experiences. The role of our staff is to create a learning environment based on the needs and interests of each child.
As all children vary in stages of development, we believe that each child has different needs, and our acceptance of these is shown in the broad range of experiences offered at Legend Park Pre-School. All activities are carefully planned by the teacher according to their observations of the children's developmental needs.
Our activities are chosen for their versatility so they can can be used at different levels and provide unlimited learning experiences.
3 year-old Kindergarten program
The program consists of a variety of indoor and outdoor activities which reflect the philosophy of learning through play. Together with open-ended individual and small group activities, all children are encouraged to participate in discussion, music and movements, games, and stories.
Goals set for the children are to:
- Settle and demonstrate a trusting relationship with the staff
- Develop their social skills by building positive relationships with peers through play
- Form positive self-esteem and display an awareness of own strengths
- Learn through exploring the world around them
- And, most importantly, to have fun!
To achieve these goals, the program for the 3 year-old group is developed according to both individual and group observations of the children's developmental level. Different themes are introduced into the monthly program, such as seasons, multicultural holidays, special occasions, and topics raised from the children's interests.
Our 3 year-old program can accommodate up to 22 children. Each child will attend a maximum of 5 hours per week.
Session times for 2017 are as follows:
- Wednesday 12:30pm - 3:00pm
- Thursday 9:00am - 11:30am
To be eligible to attend our kindergarten program, your child must turn 3 by 30th April in the year attending kindergarten and preferably be toilet-trained.
Your child must be 3 years of age before they commence the program. Parents are required to pay full fees if a place is being held for a child who is waiting to turn 3 years of age.
4 year-old Pre-school Program
Our program is ongoing throughout the year focusing on and reflecting the children's interests. We constantly observe the children and strive to provide experiences that will:
- extend the children's curiosity;
- challenge and stimulate their thinking;
- facilitate learning; and
- acknowledge and extend group and individual ideas.
Each child receives their own portfolio as a record of their "learning journey". Reflections and evaluations, as well as learning stories, are written up and displayed for families to read and provide input.
Our 4 year-old program can accommodate up to 22 children. Each child will attend a maximum of 15 hours per week.
Session times for 2017 are as follows:
- Monday 9:00am - 3:00pm
- Tuesday 9:00 - 3:00pm
- Wednesday 9:00 - 12:00pm
To be eligible to attend our pre-school program, your child must be 4 years of age by the 30th April in the year attending pre-school.
